Your love poured out
From hate-inflicted wounds
New life burst forth
From that borrowed tomb
Your heart of love
Birthed love as from a womb,
Your songs of hope
Drown out all other tunes.
Your peace overtakes
My turmoil like a flood,
Your grace-opened gates
Release sin-cleansing blood,
Your joy opens hearts
Like spring-time opens buds,
Your love compels
To love as we are loved.
Your love compels us to love […]

there is no pit

In “The Hiding Place,” just before Betsy ten Boom died in the concentration camp, she looked her sister Corrie in the eye and feebly said, “…must tell people what we have learned here. We must tell them that there is no pit so deep that He is not deeper still. They will listen to us, […]
On Sunday, our pastor’s key passage of scripture for his sermon was I Corinthians 6:19-20 which reads, “…do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your […]
My soul sings out
When my tongue is tied,
Whispers and shouts
Lie buried inside.
When I don’t know
What I should say,
The Spirit bestows
Prayers I can’t pray.
My soul sings out
When my tongue is tied,
Whispers and shouts
Lie buried inside.
Often I kneel in silence,
Amidst the warfare’s violence;
My soul is pained and weary,
My eyes, bloodshot and bleary,
And I yearn for your cheering presence.
But when […]
Take me back to Golgotha’s hill,
That sacred place, where lingers still
A sense of what you’ve done for me.
Remind me how your love poured down,
As your very life-blood hit the ground,
Take me back to Calvary.
Here love and pain blend together
Bound as one by grace’s tether,
I am in awe of what you’ve done.
Your clothes […]
Cleansed and purified
To serve the living God,
Purged and sanctified,
Stripped of my façade.
Acknowledging my guilt,
Holding nothing back,
The Lamb whose blood was spilt
Redeems me from hell’s pact.
Now the curtain’s torn,
And I can enter in;
Once forsaken and forlorn
And overcome with sin.
Now a way’s been made
For me to come inside.
Boldly and unafraid,
I draw near to Abba’s side.
Cleansed and purified
To serve […]
redeemed (the poem)
Posted in Poetry, Faith, Missional, Worship on Oct 30th, 2007
Just when it seemed
All hope was lost,
I was ransomed, redeemed,
At so high a cost.
The Lamb who was slain,
Who died in my place,
Was denounced and defamed,
Despised and disgraced.
He was nailed naked
To Golgotha’s cross,
Dying, forsaken,
For souls sick and lost.
He silently bore
The price for my sin,
So long before
I ever sought Him.
He shatters my schemes,
He restores and recovers,
He revives […]
O soul of mine,
Do not refrain.
Press into the heart of your Redeemer.
And you will find
You will be changed,
Though others may laugh and call you a dreamer.
O heart of mine,
Do not deter,
Press into His heart, whatever it takes.
And you will find
You are astir
With passion for those for whom His heart breaks.
O spirit of mine,
Do […]
Suddenly freer,
Instantly lighter,
Like a pressing weight lifted off my chest.
And the grip of fear
That grew ever tighter,
Was released by the Savior of the oppressed.
Suddenly stronger,
Though I feel weak,
I find in my weakness, your strength is perfect.
Silent no longer
Of mercy I’ll speak,
Of grace, of compassion, of love and respect.
Suddenly braver,
Although […]
Jason Morant, one of the better singer/songwriters out there, wrote this song entitled “Open.”
It’s time for something
More real than all these words.
While the least of these are broken and dying,
We count the pearls in our purse.
It’s time to live in love.
It’s time to live in love.
So open up your doors,
Let the Son shine out into […]
