through

So last night, I was working on the house. I took a break, and Michelle asked if I’d called my dad recently. I replied that I have not. She said I probably should. I did not. I was too busy.
Well, it turns out that she perceived something I did not. My dad was hospitalized again [...]

freedom

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.
Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves
be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
(Galatians 5.1 NIV)

It is for freedom Christ has set us free.
His oppression procured our liberty.
Our sin-blinded eyes are now open to see.
It is for freedom Christ has set us free.

Stand firm, [...]

home again

Well, we’re home from our camping trip.
We did a lot of fishing.
But somehow we managed to do zero catching.
We had a great time.
It was a much needed getaway.
But it is good to be home.

therapy

Well this morning, my brothers and I are heading upstate to Sullivan County for some therapy.
We’re disguising it as a camping and fishing trip.
But the Loyalsock Creek and a campfire and trout and good fellowship in God’s creation is all therapy to me.
This evening, my brothers-in-law and brother-in-law-to-be will be joining us as well.
It is [...]

Last night, in the car, we were listening to the song “All Across the Western World.”
One of the lines [...]

blessed

This morning, during my devotions, I read Psalm 32.

Blessed Are the Forgiven
A Maskil of David.
Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven,
   whose sin is covered.
Blessed is the man against whom the LORD counts no iniquity,
   and in [...]

good news

I’ve got good news.
Jesus came to seek and save the lost.
I’ve got good news.
God sees your worth, He counted the cost.
I’ve got good news.
He gave up His life, while alive and on the cross.

I’ve got good news.
They laid God’s corpse in a borrowed tomb.
I’ve got good news.
Three days later, He rose triumphant from its gloom.
I’ve [...]

yes, it’s true…

…I have a face…

…and ears…
…and a happy wife.
Lydia, you asked for pictures.
Here they are.
I think I look 17 and a half weeks younger.

rainbow

Yesterday, on the way home from work, I saw the most amazing rainbow I’ve ever seen in my life.
It was brilliant, all colors of the spectrum were distinct and dazzling.
And the whole arch was clearly visible.
But that’s not the best part.
The best part was, as I was driving home, this rainbow did not fade from [...]
