a few things

Okay, so there’re a few things about American Idol that bother me.
The first and most obvious is how certain people who absolutely cannot sing are moved through the earlier judges with the false sense of accomplishment that they made it to the top judges only to be embarrassed and belittled for the amusement of millions, myself included. Yes, I laugh at how just how bad they are. But I am just a little upset that they were deceived by the initial judges who are more concerned with tv ratings than with people’s feelings.
Of course, the families of these “singers” are more to blame. There were two moms last night who, even after their daughters proved to the world that they have a terrible singing voice, encouraged them to press on and keep singing. Love sometimes has to take the hard road of saying, “This is not your future.”
And then there are the people who actually have great voices and yet still seem incredulous that the judges are sending them to Hollywood. Who in their family has not built them up and encouraged them in their past so that now they find themselves with zero self-confidence.
We need to be more honest with each other. If someone is on a path that is clearly not for them, whether it’s sin and addiction or just misguided hopes, we cannot be enablers. We must tell the truth in love. And if someone is clearly gifted in an area, we need to be willing to swallow our pride, and encourage and build them up so that they are able to press on with confidence in that direction.
Just my $.02.
NATH!
I could NOT agree MORE! Holy cow. The girl last night with the blonde hair and that little mini dress…her mom was listening to her belt out her songs and nodding in adoration and supportive-ness (if that were a word)…and Declan and I laughed SO hard. What was that moms problem?? Her daughter will always be following a path that is CLEARLY not for her. Wow.
Good thoughts…good thoughts.
Hope the house is well!! Post updated picture, pleeeeeeeease!
Hey, K-8.
Good to hear from you.
I do need to post some more pictures.
Coming soon.
I definitely agree with you! Just the other day I was recalling a singing experience of my own in which my peers were telling me I sung very well, when I, not gifted with the ability to produce music rather than noise from my vocal chords (at the time), knew that such was not the case. Honesty is the best policy, especially when it’s going to affect the course of someone’s life.
Love ya, brother!
p.s. I moved to a new blog.
Hey, sister.
Good to hear from you again.
I just checked out your new blog.
Good stuff.
