So often when we think of the Lord as our Provider, we immediately think of Him meeting our physical needs. But the title of Jehovah-Jirah carries with much more than the provision of finances to pay our bills and put food in our pantry.
In a time of life that is quite frenzied, our Lord has proven Himself to be a faithful provider to us in various areas like the love of a family and a warm home. And in these lean financial times, these provisions seem to mean more than monetary assets ever could.
But again, these are temporal provisions.
The often overlooked side of the Lord as our Provider is how He supplies spiritual nourishment to our hungry souls. He provides the Water of Life to our thirsty spirits. He grants us peace in chaos, rest in turmoil, hope in despair, joy in pain.
And He provides them in ways that make it very clear that they are not of this world.
His spiritual provisions fly in the face of common sense.
