Well tomorrow, with the help of family and friends, we move all of our furniture and bigger stuff and whatever we have packed out of our apartment into our townhouse. This will be the last Saturday available to us before we have to be out of our apartment. Our last day is next Friday. We’ve been spending so much time at the house that we have not been able to focus as much time on packing as we would have liked.
The house is still very much under construction. We still do not have a functioning shower or kitchen yet. So we will be staying with Tim and Jen and Ryan and Esther.
It has been quite chaotic these past few weeks. And there is still a lot of work to do. We still have to finish painting. We have to install a tub and shower and toilet and vanity and flooring to our completely gutted bathroom. There is no baseboard or window trim on most of the house. There are no closet doors. All of the interior doors will need to be replaced. We still need to tile the kitchen and dining room. And I’m putting vinyl flooring in the laundry room/powder room downstairs. There is no railing on the steps. And our countertops are still not here. We will be using plywood countertops until the new ones come in December.
But it’s feeling more and more like home.
Our prayer is that it will be a refuge for us and for anyone who steps through our door.
We’re excited…tired, but excited.
To quote our eloquent sister Becki, “It’s our hoooome!”
how exciting!!!! i can’t wait to see it and hopefully help out sometime while i’m home for thanksgiving! leave something for me to do!
Anna,
Maybe we should just not do any more work until you’re home for Thanksgiving…then you wouldn’t miss anything.
Don’t worry, there will be plenty to do for a good while.
Looking forward to seeing you on your break.
