fruit or gifts

Yesterday at work, I asked a coworker if he and his wife have found a church yet in their area. He replied that they were looking into a certain one and added that his wife had contacted the pastor. He told me, “She asked him what they believe about the fruits of the Spirit, and he said–”
I interupted him and asked, “Fruits or gifts?”
“What did I say?” he replied.
“You said she asked what they thought of the fruits of the Spirit.”
We both burst out laughing. I said, “Can you imagine a pastor answering, ‘Well, we believe the fruit of the Spirit ceased upon the completion of the canon.’”
…I thought it was funny.
