give me a hunger
Sep 6th, 2008 by Nathanael
Give me a hunger,
Give me a thirst,
For you, Lord, and for your righteousness.
Lost in wonder,
When I seek you first,
I find you seeking me in my distress.
Your word tells me when
I draw near to you,
Then you will also draw near to me.
Yet again and again,
The things that I do
Pull me back into sin’s slavery.
If left to myself,
I’ll wander away,
Farther away from your spear-pierced side.
My spiritual health
Starts to decay,
When I refuse to remain and abide.
So give me a hunger,
Give me a thirst,
For you, Lord, and your storm of revival,
The distant thunder,
The pending cloudburst,
Tell of restoration’s imminent arrival.
