pit so deep

I was cleaning up some documents in my computer this morning, when I came across this simple poem I wrote last year. I actually posted it then as part of an entry on this site, but was struck this morning by its simplicity and power. So I’m re-posting it.
There is no pit so deep,
That Jesus is not […]

Come Awake

My favorite song on The David Crowder Band’s cd “A Collision” is “Come Awake.”
Incredible lyrics set to a powerful arrangement.
“Are we left here on our own?
Can you feel when your last breath is gone?
Night is weighing heavy now
Be quiet and wait for a voice that will say
Come awake
From sleep, arise
You were dead
You’ve come alive
Wake up […]

“i’m determined to live today like i wish i lived yesterday.”
Angie Weldon
(found on the Weldon blog)
FYI, that’s just a nugget of what you’ll find as you peruse Angie’s astute, though often rambling, observations of life, faith, family and love, along with great pics of their beautiful family.

answered prayer

So often, we pray for something in particular, and our Lord answers with a resounding “No!”
This happened to us recently. We were looking at a townhouse that needed some work. This brought it into our limited price range. We went through the whole process with the bank. And when we were about to put an offer […]

a very full week

Well, yesterday was the last day of my Servant Orientation for H*VMI. It was a wonderful week of learning and praying and fellowshipping and laughing and eating. Monday, I go back to my job. We are in the process of raising support to become full-time missionaries. We would appreciate your prayers as we step out onto this […]

new wheels

Well, the days of putting gas into my truck every week are over. We are now the proud owners of a 1995 Nissan Sentra, in a really cool shade of purple…not quite Barneyesque.
I’m trying to sell my truck on Craigslist. We love Craigslist.
So the car belonged to Michelle’s cousin Kim who is now a missionary […]

it’s official…

…I start my training as a missionary for Handi*Vangelism Ministries International (H*VMI) this week.
I will be starting Servant Orientation tomorrow morning.
To say I’m excited would be an extreme understatement.
I’m thrilled at the opportunity to be joining such a great group of missionaries in this compassion ministry.
Michelle has been serving with REST Ministries (a department of H*VMI) […]

it’s both

In comparing the theology of liberal modernism, which pushed a social gospel, with the theology that strongly asserts that nothing can be “set to rights” until our Lord returns and repairs and restores all things, N.T. Wright makes this powerful statement:

“The universal early Christian belief was that Jesus had already been demonstrated publicly to be Israel’s […]

what do you have?

Now the wife of one of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord, but the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.” And Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell […]
