is Wii an excuse…

…for domestic abuse?
Michelle’s sisters brought their Wii with them to Pennsylvania. They leave tomorrow. We will be sad to see it–I mean them–go.
I didn’t play a lot of video games growing up. I always tell people, in a slightly self-righteous air, that we read books and played outside. The truth is, we could never afford Atari or Nintendo or Sega. When I would go to a friend’s house who had video games, I would try once and be so embarrassed at how badly I stunk it up that I just offered to watch. Of course, the other kids didn’t mind “showing me how to do it,” which really meant hogging the game.
Anyway, back to the title of this entry. One of the Wii sports games is boxing. I worked up quite a sweat Sunday afternoon knocking my wife out. Here she is trying to block one of my combinations.

She got no mercy from me. In all fairness to her, she did knock me down twice. And though I knocked her down five times, she managed to get back on her feet four of the five. But I knocked her out. Yessir, I’m a big man.
Did I mention that Michelle’s little sister, Lauren, who’s 12, knocked me out in the second round last night? Yep, I got beat by a girl.

Here I am with my left jab keeping her away, trying to land a right hook, just before she landed the final blow that caused my virtual knees to buckle and me to crumble face-down on the mat.
On a seperate note, I hurt my shoulder playing Wii tennis.
I might need to see a physical therapist.

Sounds a lot more fun than any other video game, the ones during which you sit on your butt, stare at a screen, and twiddle your thumbs. Can you tell I’m not a fan of video games? I’m glad you had a good time with Lauren and Nicole.
Oh, there’s no thumb-twiddling with Wii…
Yes, it’s been a HUGE blessing having Nicole and Lauren for the past two weeks. We’ve been nice and snug in our apartment, that’s for sure.
lol! That’s awesome
My family was big into video games, but me falling as 8th of 10 children, I didn’t get much into video games and opted rather for sports where everyone got a chance to play. Wii can be quite fun and entertaining, though, when my family all gets together we tend to do non-virtual physical beating up on each other, such as spiking a volleyball into a siblings head or proving who is stronger via arm wrestling or full out wrestling. I have a very competitive family, but it’s all done in fun ^_^
I hope your shoulder feels better! With no Wii around, it should be quick healing, right?
Yep, nothing like a good book to heal a Wii injury.
Our family was (and still is) very competitive, but it was mostly with board games.

We had some vicious Pictionary and Monopoly games in our day.
haha, oh yeah… the monopoly games that last until 3 in the morning! I don’t suppose you’ve ever played the game Aggravation, have you?
thats my big bad brother…
getting beat by a girl!

So good to hear from you!
We miss you guys. Hope all is well.
Tell Clint I said “What’s up.”

It’s a ways from stress-free, but it’s definitely fun! Especially when there are a lot of players!
