beneath the shadow of your grace
May 20th, 2008 by Nathanael
Beneath the shadow of your grace,
My soul hath found a safe repose.
A secure and sought-after space,
Where hide the despised and displaced,
And welcome are the oppressed, opposed.
Beneath the shadow of your grace,
My heart hath found its quarry lost.
And here love covers my disgrace,
My shame is gone without a trace,
And mercy melts my icy frost.
Beneath the shadow of your grace,
I am who you designed me to be.
I settle into your warm embrace,
Jesus, who took my guilty place,
And redeemed me from the curse of me.
Beneath the shadow of your grace,
Oh may I never wander hence,
And your image in me deface.
My proud self is here be abased,
Here in the shadow of your defense.
