Borrowed Breath

Rising above the despair and din

Of this chaotic world I’m living in,

            I hear your sweet, melodic love song,

Floating, seemingly unaffected by

The cares and concerns, the worries and whys,

            And my heart begins to sing along.

Hovering above the world’s commotion

Stirring my heart strings, evoking emotion,

            Your song of love sweeps thru the earth,

Touching the wounded and the ignored,

With a caress that redeems and restores,

            Reminding us how much we are worth.

Mounting up with increasing power,

Swelling until despair is devoured

            In the rising tune of love and grace.

Lord, teach me to sing this song that I hear,

To other souls locked in the grip of fear.

            To free them and wrap them in your embrace.
