light revealed
Feb 28th, 2008 by Nathanael
On Sunday evening, our Pastor of College Students, Tom Hudzina gave a message entitled “Trials in Community.” And his application included little glow sticks that you have to bend and break in order for the light to be revealed. He pointed out that the light of the glory of our Lord within us is able to shine forth for His glory when our faith is put to the test and bent and broken. This poem was inspired by that message:
The glorious light of the gospel
Lies deep within my redeemed soul,
Yet oft it’s masked,
Shadow overcast,
Hidden away under selfish control.
Yet my Lord desires to demonstrate
That His light will pierce and penetrate,
The darkest places,
Where sin disgraces,
His radiance will break thru darkness and hate.
So how will His light be manifest,
To those who are chained in darkness?
How will His mercy
Reach the thirsty?
How will His love touch the oppressed?
When my frail faith is bent and broken,
I remember promises He has spoken,
I count it all joy
When trials annoy,
And faith once dormant is again awoken.
Trials break and His glory’s revealed,
Layers of self are removed and peeled,
And others are drawn
To the Savior’s dawn
To His light rising in those He has healed.

bro, this is great. thanks for writing and letting us see some fruit that bears life as a result of God’s word. I’m going to copy and paste this thing and print it out.
thank YOU for your faithfulness.

amazing… i totally thrived off the glow stick concept. Thanks for the poem.. I will def. have to keep a copy of that around…. what a way to wrap up the message and the purpose of the glow sticks.
thank you, sister.
coming from a gifted poet like yourself, this is high praise indeed.
it’s not fun being bent and broken, though.
it all comes down to trust.
