Borrowed Breath

Each new day

Provides a way

For me to prove

My love for you.

So how can I delay?
How can I refuse?

To live this life for you.

Your love poured out

Ending my drought

Freeing my soul

From eternal Sheol

Suppressing doubt.
Salvation’s bells toll

And I echo their shout.

And yet I find

Every time

I purpose to obey

Instead I walk away

On a path of mine

That leads astray

To a destination of decline.

So what am I to do?

But surrender anew

And give up the fight

And give up my rights

I yield this life to you

My soul’s source of delight

Jesus, this praise is overdue.
