why do good people suffer? part II
Jan 24th, 2008 by Nathanael
Why do good people suffer? The obvious answer is that good people are no different than other people in their existence in this human race. Everyone suffers. Life brings with it both joy and pain. Everyone, at any given time, goes through periods of happiness and bliss. And those same people are going to go through times of hardship and distress. Everyone suffers. Suffering is part of life.
But some people learn from their suffering to minister to others.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” (2 Cor 1:3-4 ESV).
We can comfort others with the comfort with which we are comforted.
And we cannot comfort others if we ourselves have not been comforted.
