you came to save
Dec 25th, 2007 by Nathanael
“She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
(Matthew 1:21)
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
(Luke 19:10)
You came as a babe
To seek and to save,
The leper, the lame, the lost.
You lived to die
So you could buy
Our redemption at such a cost.
You humbled yourself,
So you could help,
We who were otherwise helpless.
You became a man,
So you understand
Despair and dejection and distress.
You redeem the ones
This world has shunned,
You notice those that others miss.
Your love breaks bonds
And our souls respond
To the one who pulls us from our abyss.
You still come to those,
Oppressed and opposed,
And our souls leap at your advent.
Your presence provides,
A place to abide,
In eternity and here in the present.
.
Shalom to your and yours on this blessed Christmas.
