Psalm 130

Psalm 130 (ESV) A Song of Ascents. Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD! O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive    to the voice of my pleas for mercy!  If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities,    O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness,     that [...]

my soul sings out

My soul sings out When my tongue is tied, Whispers and shouts Lie buried inside. When I don’t know What I should say, The Spirit bestows Prayers I can’t pray. My soul sings out When my tongue is tied, Whispers and shouts Lie buried inside. Often I kneel in silence, Amidst the warfare’s violence; My soul is [...]

home again

Well, we’re back from a WONDERFUL weekend.  Friday evening we headed to Bird-in-Hand, PA to the annual H*VMI retreat.  It was a refreshing time full of testimonies and intercessory prayer and worship and good Bible teaching. My favorite part of the weekend was the testimonies.  Various missionaries got up and told, with tears and laughter, [...]

baptisms

Last night, at our church body’s weekly celebration, we had three baptisms.  I always love hearing the testimonies of men and women who are not public speakers, but who’s lives have been dramatically transformed by the love of Christ, and who want to make a public confession of their faith and be identified with His death, [...]

take me back

Take me back to Golgotha’s hill, That sacred place, where lingers still             A sense of what you’ve done for me. Remind me how your love poured down, As your very life-blood hit the ground,             Take me back to Calvary.   Here love and pain blend together Bound as one by grace’s tether,             [...]

deaf/blind

While reading through Leviticus last night, I came across an interesting verse.  “You shall not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block before the blind, but you shall fear your God:  I am the LORD”  (Leviticus 19:14 ESV).   At first, this looks like a semi-trivial law regarding actually speaking ill of someone who [...]
