body=temple
Nov 29th, 2007 by Nathanael
On Sunday, our pastor’s key passage of scripture for his sermon was I Corinthians 6:19-20 which reads, “…do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body” (ESV).
Those two verses have been running through my head all week, though I must confess I have not lived by them. Wouldn’t that change everything if this truth governed my conduct? Can you imagine how things would change if we daily (nay, moment-by-moment) yielded ourselves to the Lordship of the Spirit of the risen Christ within us?
It would change how I treat you.
It would change how I speak.
It would change how I think.
It would change what I ingest.
It would change the thoughts I let linger in my mind.
It would change how I drive my car.
It would change what I look at online.
It would change how I view others.
It would change how I treat non-Jesus-followers.
It would change how I view my fellow Jesus-followers with whom I do not agree.
It would change everything.
“…do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body” (I Corin. 6:19-20 ESV)

I agree… this has been on mind my all week as well… reminding myself of the price I was bought for as all of us were bought for… we do have an AMAZING GOD
.
Amen!
