redeemed II

Another cool thing about redemption is how it changes us. We are told in the scriptures that once our Lord redeems us, He willingly blots out the memory of our sin from His own mind. Psalm 103:12 tells us, “As far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us.” In Isaiah 43:25, our Lord tells us, “I, I am He who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.” And yet we still remember them. We still remember our sins from before we embraced Jesus Christ as our Savior. And we know full well our present depravity and propensity to sin.
But the truth that our Lord is redeeming us changes us. We see our sin. And we see redemption for what it is—the most amazing thing in the world. The revelation of this compels us to tell others of this Jesus and of His redemption.
Evangelism that seeks to make converts to its own creed is hurtful. But true evangelism that loves with the love of Christ carries with it a power that cannot be denied. Christians seeking to win souls for any reason that is not motivated by the understanding of their own redemption will cause more harm than good.
We are being redeemed, and our Redeemer has invited us to join with Him in redeeming others. Just do Him, yourself and the rest of us a favor, remember the cost of redemption. Remember the love of God that was poured into your soul. Remember that being right is useless. Jesus Christ is all. He is who we are drawing others to.
It is His love that wins.
