From the ashes, my soul is awoken,
From the alter, new life will spring,
Fulfilling the promise ‘twas spoken,
A promise that cannot be broken,
For it was signed by the death of my King,
And sealed when He rose from the dead,
As a slain and a risen Lamb,
As poured out wine and broken bread,
Where perfect love and wrath were wed
In the sacrificial great “I Am,”
Giving me hope beyond the grave,
Hope that triumphs, hope that endures,
Granting freedom to this sin-bound slave,
Overwhelmed by mercy’s tidal wave,
Forgiven forever and evermore.
