The image in my mind appears,
The suffering Savior on the cross
In blood and sweat and anguished tears,
Redemption has so high a cost.
He speaks to me, His voice I hear,
In a soft and loving tone,
“I am forsaken and abandoned here
So you will never be alone.
“Do not let your heart be troubled,
Do not let it be dismayed.
When all hope is reduced to rubble,
I am with you, be unafraid.
“Despite how hopeless life appears,
Fear not, you will never be abandoned.
You’re not alone, my presence cheers
With peace surpassing understanding.”
