Why is it, when someone is about to insult your intelligence, they preface their degrading comment with, “With all due respect…”? It’s as if I said to you, “With all due respect, you’re a moron.” The end of my comment has much more impact then the beginning. In fact, you may be more hurt by the fact that I try to soften the blow with a candy-coated cliche.
Just a thought…
Yeah, that one ranks right up there with my personal favorite: “I speak the truth in love….”
