The word “missional” is a relatively new one.
At the risk of being too vague and not getting any response at all, what does the word “missional” mean to you?

“Missional”, for me, means no more than taking the next step, be it concerned with my part in the community/world around me or just finding direction in my own life. It all continues to boil down to a Reality within me restored via the work of Christ. Too many, I think, think it enough to “do good”. Nothing wrong with that; I just don’t want to miss His voice in the fulfillment of it…….
Setting aside the fact that missional sounds like a fake word… I think it means using your life as an example of Christ. I think it’s important to note that in doing this you don’t necessarily even have to speak. Actions as well as words can point someone to Christ. But I’m not trying to say just do good things, your actions need to be backed by prayer and there are certainly many times that words will be needed. I’m only saying that witnessing doesn’t always need to be verbal. Missional is expanding the definition of witness, recognizing that your entire life should be pointing others to Christ.
Thanks guys.
Jen,
St. Francis of Assisi once said, “Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.”
And our brother Rob Bell preached an INCREDIBLE message on April 15th entitled, “We Already Are,” which is worth a listen.
